You get what you paid for! August 27, 2010 Alvaro Lachner (Costa Rica) This S&W flashlight is very well built, the light it emits running on 2 AA batteries is great, the strike bezel is perfect for self defense and the carrying case it comes with is very comfortable. My main criticism of this tactical flashlight is the mechanism to turn it on and off as it works by unscrewing the bottom cap and the click button is very sensitive so it turns itself on and off when positioned in the carrying case or in your pocket. This mechanism makes operating the flashlight a pain and kills its functionality as a tactical flashlight. I've already ordered a Surefire Defender flashlight despite its heftier price tag, but I prefer carrying something of a higher quality and that will work properly. This flashlight is now my backup light stored in my SUV console. If you are looking for a flashlight to carry on a daily basis, then this is not the one for you. It's better to save and purchase a Surefire.
Not exactly what I expected August 9, 2010 Frederick Jones (Mpls, MN) The only part I did not like about this light is that there are no on and off buttons, it is turned on by screwing on the battery cap and the only way to turn it off is by unscrewing (you can push the cap while it is slightly unscrewed to turn it on, but this only keeps it on while you maintain pressure). At first I was worried about the cap falling off while carrying it, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Other than how it is turned on, it is a very good light for the price. Quality construction and the bright bulb makes me happy :)
Short life for a bright light August 8, 2010 Blueridge 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this light as a Christmas present when it was time to replace the batteries I found I could not remove them.
The bore is so small there is no wiggle room. No matter what I tried I could not remove them. I was determined to save the light but destroyed the batteries. In the end I threw it in the trash after six months use.
I have another brand that I paid 10 bucks for that is still working after five years.
Very bright flashlight. Almost like a spotlight August 4, 2010 C. W. Mcarthur (Just west of the Big Dig) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an amazingly bright lamp. The optics are fantastic for such a small unit.
The *only* issues I have are:
1: You can't use it in "candle mode" Not really a big issue, but it does come in handy once in a while.
2: Can't focus the beam. Again, not a huge issue, but sometimes focusing would be helpful.
3: Since the on/off is the base of the torch, you either screw it in tight or press on the base with your thumb, if you put it into the holster, be careful, pressure from the flap cover can activate the lamp and you'll not see it until it's too late.
In the dark, I was illuminating the back yard to the tree line from over 30 meters away. My 3 D-Cell mag LED was able to do this as well. But it is nearly 300% larger.
would buy it again July 15, 2010 busnut I've looked at, tried and bought any number of 'carry' flashlights but this is the first one to satisfy. A little short-lived on the batteries but the pocket for the spares easily makes up for it. The blinding, long reach beam along with broader halo make this as good as it gets for me......The holster deserves a thumbs up as well for sturdy and well made....and the price puts it over the top.....
