Smith & Wesson: Expect the Best. Galaxy 28 LED Flashlight offers your choice of 20 White LED's plus 4 Red LED's and 4 Blue LED's
Amazon.com Product Description The dual-switch Smith & Wesson Galaxy 28 flashlight is designed with two separate on-off push buttons, providing a choice between a powerfully bright 20 White LED mode or two battery-efficient LED modes--4 red LED (for night vision) or 4 blue LED (for low light viewing)--without the confusion of a single switch mechanism. It features the latest MSAT switch technology which allows the white LEDs to operate on one switch while the color LED modes are activated on a separate switch. Ideal for aviation, outdoors, automotive, home, and professional use, the 20 LED mode provides a brilliant beam of white light perfect for general usage, while the 4 LED mode is ideal for conserving battery power and signaling and identifying targets at night without hampering night vision. It's constructed of precision-machined 6063 anodized aluminum for maximum resistance to corrosion and weather. The flashlight also includes 3 AAA batteries and a deluxe holster with a spare battery holder. It's backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

White LEDs Not That Bright July 1, 2010 MdRon 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased from Amazon a few days ago. This light is built very well. I like everything about it, except for one thing, which is the killer. The white LEDs are not that bright. The red is fine, the blue is fine. The whites? NOT fine.
Something that threw me, which I still don't understand, is some of the other reviewers saying that this light is very bright. It made me think that there might be something wrong with mine, until I found a website that had the Lumens rating for the white LEDs. The rating is 30 lumens. And anybody that is experienced with flashlights (I'm not) knows that 30 lumens isn't that high.
It's a shame (IMO) that such a nicely built light has that low of a brightness level. To me, it just kills it, and makes it an overpriced product. Because for $37.00, one can get a whole lot more of a light than this one.
Two Years of Non Stop Service. June 6, 2010 Dreaming.. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this flashlight on July of 2008. In all this time I have been surprised by it, it's kind of like those products you don't see that much anymore.
Brightness: The white light will lit anything in within a hundred meters away with a clear and well focused stream of light. The blue light has an almost UV quality to it but it's functional for low light activities, so is the green (I have both varieties), and the red while perfect for close night vision, has enough reach to see things for afar too.
Battery Life: I use 1000mAh rechargeable batteries, still, I get a good 10-15 hours of white light, around the same for blue/green light, but the red one lasts days and days, I've tried to fully discharge the batteries on the red light alone and it takes nearly a week to do so, with alkaline batteries you get an slightly even more bright light and longer battery life, but won't be able to recharge those.
Quality/Endurance: This what really has made me fall in love with this flashlight, the endurance and quality of the build is simply outstanding, it has withstood two falls from quite high heights, and more than a few from lesser ones, with not much as some tiny scratches. No led has gone out, no broken pieces or cracks in the front, no corrosion of whatsoever even when I have left it out in the cold and/or rain.
I haven't had the chance to try other LED flashlights, which are maybe brighter or offer even longer battery life, but the quality of the build of this one, makes it a good investment for the money.
If the days comes when it's finally broken or stops working, I'll come back for one of the same.
Larger than you might think June 4, 2010 Nina (Northern New England) Ordered this as a belt holster light, but it's too big to be comfortable on a belt each day. It's 6.5 inches long and 2 inches at the widest part. I was looking for something about 1/2 that size. It seems to work fine, the beam is not much focused, as others have said. It will do the job around the house for winter emergencies. I'll look for something smaller for hubby's belt.
I've bought 4 different kinds of these flashlights recently. All had the same trouble with iffy battery connections. I seem to have a work around. They use these removeable 3 aaa inserts and the contact at one end is sometimes very minimal. We put a 1/8 washer down inside, nearest the led end to improve the contact and now all are working fine. Some engineer somewhere doesn't have a clue.
LED awesome flashlight for my car!! April 27, 2010 Rebecca Cwidak (sb, in, usa) I ordered this light for my car, in case anything happened while traveling. It is a great light, bright and lights up of all the area. I really like this flashlight!
Good light for sure February 16, 2010 A. KING (Silicon Valley, CA) I love it except for the fact that the switch to control the blue/red light has become very finicky and works about 1 in 20 times I try to press it.
